My name is Patrick Jones and I am a member of your parish. I am also a Military Police Officer deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. As we start this year off I would like for every red blooded American to support our troops in anyway they can. As still just being a kid thrown out into the wilderness in a combat zone I know what it is like to give everything up and sacrifice for my country. I know it is hardly said of how much Americans support there troops. As an American and a Soldier I am proud to serve my country in any and everyway I can. I have spent every last holiday away from my family there in Weatherford. I have hd to sleep in the cold and eat one time a day. I have been to 6 different countries and had no one say thank you for my effort. I would like for a prayer to be said for us that are overseas and the ones who lost their life fighting for freedom. They were someone's son or daughter, husband or wife, friend or relative. They made the ultimate sacrifice with their life. I feel that if everyone either knew someone or knows someone who is fighting for freedom they would give them a hug and say thank you. Being in a combat zone makes you think of life and where you are headed. I would just like to close with saying, "I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard our country and our way of life."
